Maldivian economy needed a ventilator: Finance Minister

Speaking at a press conference, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer had spoken about the current situation and how the government plans to over come the current economic situation

In the press conference the Finance Minister has stated the exports has gone down significantly low and receiving foreign currency would difficult at this time. The minister highlighted that job losses would be all time high as tourism employment is the highest percent of locals.

The Minister had also spoke about the current measure that the government is taking. In light of the situation the Minister had noted the government had requested deter on its debt in order to tackle the economic impact cased by COVID-19. The Minister also noted that any new PSIP projects would be halted as economy slow down.

In light of the following situation the Minister have requested parliament for assistance in easing restrictions in getting funds.
