Thus far 102 foreign nationals have tested positive in Maldives include tourist and migrant workers.
As news of the largest number confirmed has been recorded today with 36 confirmed at once. This includes 30 foreign nationals. Which brings up the cases to 102.
Currently, 160 active cases, including 75 Bangladeshi, 10 Indians and 2 Sri-Lankan have tested positive.
These cases have been confirmed due to high number of expats living crowed areas. Since then authorities are working to decongest by relocating around 1500 migrant workers to temporary shelters.
Looking at the tourist numbers whom tested positive 11 Italians, 1 Turkish, 1 South African, 1 German and 1 British nationals have tested positive.
The government has made promise it would not treat anyone differently in providing treatment. However, issues of mistreatment of Bangladeshi nationals have sparked up issues for the government.
