Authorities have requested people whom have travelled from Amaazu Boat on 15 April to report themselves to health authorities. The boat has carried passengers traveling from Male’ to locals islands in Haa Alif Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll and Noonu Atoll.
In a press briefing, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal has confirmed the boat captain whom is a 49 years old Male’ tested positive for COVID-19. The number of passengers whom traveled from the boat on 15 April and 16 April that have been uncovered with numbers of passengers coming to 98 with contact tracing efforts. But the doctor believes that there could be more. The doctor also confirmed the boat has visited 12 different islands to drop of passengers.
According to information the boat had traveled to Henbadhoo, Maafaru, Velidhoo, Kendhikulhudhoo and Holhudhoo in N. Atoll. The boat also travelled to Sh. Atoll. Passengers from Sh. Atoll who travelled on board the boat are now in Narudhoo, Funadhoo, Feevah, Milandhoo, Maaungoodhoo. And passengers are also in H. A. Dhidhdhoo and Utheem. These islands are currently placed under monitoring status.
Currently, authorities are working to find the remaining passengers and requested everyone whom travelled from the boat to contact by calling to 1678 or either email to heoc@health.gov.mv. Passengers can also contact local health centres in their respective island to help with the contact tracing.
