Untied States government pledged US$ 2 Million to support the Maldives in economic recovery which has been effected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The US state department funds will support the expansion of social protection services which are led by local civil organizations and this will help to formulate an effective recovery policy caused by COVID-19.
This assistance also includes support for private business and financial institutions which support the mostly hard hit businesses.
In a tweet Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid thanked US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and The ambassador to Srilanka and Maldives Alaina Teplitz for the support given by the US government.
This pledge comes on the same day as Japan extended grant to support Maldives.
