
INS Jalashwa enters Male’ port today morning to evacuate Indian nationals from the Maldives.
This is the first phase of the Indian Navy ‘Operation Samundra Setu’ to repatriate Indian nationals overseas. The Indian Navy has reported that two ships have been dispatched to the Maldives. The second ship INS Magar would arrive soon.
In phase one of the operation 200 Indian nationals are scheduled to return to India
Easier the embassy has noted it would prioritise repatriating those whom are registered with the high commission on compelling grounds such as workers who lost their jobs, destitute cases, elderly, pregnancy, preexisting medical condition and stranded tourist.
Currently, the Maldives have over 27000 Indian Nationals living in the Maldives.
