
Maldives Seafood Processing and Exporters Association (MSPEA) has stated demand has hike as restrictions ease from European Countries.
MSPEA is an association with major tuna exporters in the Maldives. In a statement released on Friday tuna prices have risen to MVR 60 in the European market opens up.
MSPEA said fishermen need to go back to fishing to hold up the market for frozen fish exports in Europe.
The association described the fishermen to be the backbone of Maldivian Economy and fishermen presidents a golden opportunity to claim their role.
The association said that fishermen had a lot of issues receiving their payment during this season. The association said this time the fishermen will the opportunity to sell yellowfin tuna and receive payment immediately.
The association also praised the government for MVR 100 Million loan facility to promote fishing and expressed the gratitude for supporting the industry.
