
Authorities have given confirmation that COVID-19 testing facilities would be established in Addu City the end of May.
Vice President Faisal Naseem and Health Minister Abdulla Ameen had met with Addu parliament members to discuss difficulties facing the addu city due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Earlier Naifaru constituency MP Ahmed Shiyam had put a forth a motion to establish a testing facility in Addu city to the Parliament Floor as a matter of urgent inquiry.
Despite the motion, Addu Maradhoo MP Rozaina Adam has stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) had informed the government a testing facility would be established by the end of May. The following announcement was tweeted after the meeting with the Vice President and Health Minister.
Currently, the testing facilty are solely based in Male’ city with major medical facilities only established in the state capital alone.
The meeting with Addu MP’s highlighted several key issues of Addu people being stranded in Male’ and medical equipment issues faced in Addu. The vice president has granted the government would work its fullest to provide the following facilities to addu as soon as possible.
