The Maldivian government evacuated 353 undocumented Bangladeshi from the Maldives back to Bangladesh.
According to Foreign minister Abdulla Shahid, the workers flew back home on a chartered Biman Bangladesh Airline flight which arrived in early Saturday carrying equipment carrying COVID-19 village equipment which currently under development suburban Hulhumale’ to treat coronavirus patients.
It is also been also noted more than 70 undocumented Bangladeshi workers have already been repatriated by a Bangladeshi Air force.
Maldives migrant worker population are close to 150,000 and some of 63,000 those are undocumented. Majority of migrant workers are noted as Bangladeshi which is living in congested places which could help spread infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
Earlier this month president has also noted that repetition of undocumented workers is planned with 1500 to be repatriated.
