Parliament speaker is against reducing salaries of MP’s and top government officials for a second time

The parliament speaker voiced out that he is against the reduction of salaries for a second time from MP’s and top government officials.

Parliament speaker Mohamed Nasheed in response to a letter sent by the Finance Minister Ameer requesting for additional pay cuts from MP’s and top government officials for the month of May has express displeasure with the decision.

He has stated the month of May pay cuts must not be informed in the month of May it be done earlier. If such a measure is taken this would put everyone into a big problem to manage their living expenses.

Earlier several measures have been imposed by the government on pay cuts with 20000-30000 taking 20% pay cuts, 30000-60000 taking 30% pay cuts and 60000 and above taking 35% pay cuts previously.
