The parliament on Wednesday has voted in favour of deducting salaries of state officials whom earns above 20,000.
The majority pay cuts was voted of those whom are in attended the online parliament session. The committee had completed its review and passes it findings which they imposed pay cuts as follows:
- People whom earn MVR 20,000 to MVR 30,000 by 20%
- People whom earn MVR 30,000 to MVR 60,000 by 30%
- MVR 65,001 and above by 35%
This also has been imposing on parliament speaker as well. Where his salary would be taking MVR 37188 which is a huge change compared to a previous salary cut. Previously, parliament speaker uses to receive MVR 53125.
Even the president also took pay cuts where he would be getting MVR 65000 as salary now after 35% pay cuts.
