As the recent action to ease lockdown measure. The Maldives would maintain the Public Health Emergency until June 29.
The announcement was made the Health Minister Abdulla Ameen during a press conference. Speaking at the press conference in light of the recent easement due to infection rate becoming lower. He noted that despite the following easement the country still is in a possible danger as the easement released would go-ahead in phase one.
This marks the third extension of the Public Health Emergency. The first declaration of Public Health Emergency was on 12 March by Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru under section number 33 of the Public Health Act.
According to the law, this declaration issued by the Director-General of Public Health would receive full authority to safeguard the locals.
