GA. Maamendhoo has confirmed its first COVID-19 patient in the Island. The details of the case was shared by spokesperson, Mabrook Azeez during a press-briefing held in National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday.
Mabrook stated that the man arrived to Male’ city from Maamendhoo on May 31 and he had traveled to Male’ accompanying a person whom required medical treatment. He also noted that the man had tested for COVID-19 on June 6 with the result coming back negative.
During his stay in Male’ he had stayed in a guesthouse with two family members and later traveled to Maamendhoo with two on June 13 with the flight coming to Kooddoo carrying 40 passengers. He had reported to have exhibited COVID-19 like symptoms on 14 June and samples where taken on June 15 with results received on Thursday testing positive.
Currently contact tracing has been taken underway to in two island which includes Maamendhoo and Gemanafushi where passengers of the flight was notified.
Furthermore, Mabrook also noted that restrictive measure on island would only decided once the contact tracing is completed and noted that everyone whom have travelled on the same on the same flight are currently placed under home quaratine.
