Maldives would receive USD 50 Million dollars in loans and USD 25 Million as aid according to Asian Development Bank (ADB). According to the Bank the following assistance would be provided in fighting against COVID-19.
President of the ADB and Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Masatsugu Asakawa stated that the ADB was prepared to help in the efforts to alleviate the effects of COVID-19 on the countries economy, social and health sector.
The fund was provided by the ADB would be used to establish mechanisms in five different regions in the Maldives increase testing up to 800 per day. This includes funds being allocated to establishment 400 more beds for isolation and 200 beds for ICU.
Furthermore, the funds would be used to run community safety programs and also to pay those employees whom are engaged in working with the program.
