
A ruling party candidate whom is set to compete in the upcoming local council election has renounced her party ticket.
The female’ candidate is been notified as Miuna Hassan whom is contesting for Haa Alifu Muraidhoo council whom is set to contest in the upcoming 2020 election. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the local council election has been delay until Jan 2021.
The candidate has come out on her social media account announcing that she would not be representing her party in the upcoming local council election. She has announced the following in her Facebook account:
According to the candidate, the following failure of the government is one of the main reasons to look into the rape case and she seems to be embraced to contest as the government is not doing any action.
Despite the following case, several ruling party candidates have also reported that they are facing difficulties due to there job losses. The candidates reported that they were suspended and terminated from there job because they were contesting in the upcoming local council election due to delays in the election they are facing difficulties.
The ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has not yet commented about the candidate giving up her party ticket.
