
Two COVID-19 management facilities have been established in Gaafu Alif Atoll Villingili and Laamu Gan Island.
The open ceremony took place via virtually on Tuesday night. The COVID-19 treatment facilities in Villingilli has 23 beds in the Intensive Care Unit and a Ventilator while Gan COVID-19 facility has 20 ICU beds including 15 isolation beds and 12 beds for quarantine individuals.
The ministry has also noted that COVID-19 testing can be done in both facilities. Aside from the Greater Male’ Region, authorities have confirmed that they would establish COVID-19 testing facilities across five regions. This includes COVID-management facility has been established in Shaviyani Funadhoo, for the regions including Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal and Shaviyani atolls.
Baa Atoll Eydhafushi Island has also established a COVID-management facility which would serve Noonu, Raa, Baa and Lhaviyani atoll. The facility has been opened on July 16.
The newly opened facilities targets to provide treatment for Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu atoll while the Villingili island facility would offer treatment to Gaafu Alif and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The Health Ministry also revealed that a three-bed ICU facility has been established in Haa Alif Atoll Ihavandhoo Island and facility for critical patients in Fuvahmulah City.
