Opposition Coalition comprised of PPM and PNC gathered in the street of the Maldives Capital on Sunday to a stage a rally titled “Enmen eh Adakun”. The following when translated means “One Voice”.
The opposition leaders gathers in Chaandhanee Magu junction with 50 supporters in a rally.
According to witness at the seeing police officers was trying to push back protesters. However, protesters pushed through the police line and marched along Majeedhee Magu. In the protest one protester was taken into custody while others was been pushed back.
The protesters had also called upon the government to expel all foreign military personnel based in the Maldives and introduce a minimum wage as promised by the ruling party. The protesters also called for the resignation of MDP administration and also pushed the government to award of 7,000 housing units which was build under the Hiyaa Housing projects.
The opposition had previously announced a plan to hold a rally titled ” Failure” but postponed the rally after being denied the necessary permits.
