Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed currently 12 islands 7 resorts outside of Male’ city. Authorities has now taken strong measure to stop combat the spread of the virus in these islands.
The Agency confirmed the following via twitter which showed the islands which has active COVID cases. This includes
- Haa Alifu Kela
- Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo
- Haa Alifu Filladhoo
- Haa Dhaalu Navaidhoo
- Baa Kudarikilu
- Baa Kamadhoo
- Raa Inguraidhoo
- Raa Hulhudhufaaru
- Lhaviyani Hinnavaru
- Kaafu Maafushi
- Vaavu Fulidhoo
- Fuvamulah City.
HPA also confirmed 7 resorts that are currently which has active cases of COVID-19. The agency has reported that 6 tourists and 9 resorts staff among-st the confirmed case in the island.
However, HPA has not revealed the names of the resorts which has reported COVID-19 active cases.
Despite the case in the resorts the Maldives has opened its boarders in Mid-July after boarders closing back in March after the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and has now welcome over 1000 tourist to the country till the end of July.
Nevertheless, the Maldives has experience a sudden surge in new COVID-19 case in the Maldives with HPA confirming over 500 cases with in 7 days. It is reported that 129 individuals are hospitalized most recent figures and 19 deaths has been reported until now since the pandemic started.
