
Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) holds a strike at the outside the bay of Kaafu Atoll Maafushi.
Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) on Tuesday, 25 August traversed to the island which houses the Maafushi Jail to raise their voice calling for immediate release of imprisoned former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
However, the parities attempt to outside Maafushi was met with intervention by the Maldives Police Service whom has pushed back the seas vessels out of the island’s harbor.
According to a sources over 100 party supporters including senior members were on board the vessel with the aim of protesting inside the island lagoon. But no one was allowed to go onto the island.
Meanwhile, Opposition PNC deputy president Ibrahim Shujau have claimed that the protest will be carried across the Maldives in every island of the atoll except Greater Male’ Region.
