A Border Security System has been established in Noonu Maafaru International Airport.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology on Wednesday that National Center for Information Technology (NCIT) employees compete installation of border security system on 19 August 2019.
The Ministry has stated that with the new installation at Maafaaru International Airport all international airports and seaports now have border controls systems. The Ministry has stated that border control system installed at Maafaru International Airport is technologically advance and will facilitate easier travel for tourist through the airport.
The minister said this is a huge convenience given to the current situation to the country.
The Ministry provided assurance that NCIT will provide more support to all system that need implementation. Noonu Atoll being surrounded by high-end tourist resort was developed with USD 60 million. The funds which was given by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) which designed the airport to accommodate Airbus A320 and Boeing 727 aircrafts.
Currently the airport has also established an in-house PCR lab funded by the international resort china Soneva group which operates a luxury resort near by Maafaru.
Maafaru International Airport runways has been further enlarged to accommodate Boeing 777 twin-jet aircrafts. Which the funds has already be approved by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.
