Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on Tuesday has revealed that two Indian Military surveillance aircraft lands at Hanimaadhoo International Airport in Haa Dhaalhu Atoll around 10:25 am.
MNDF spokesperson Major Ibrahim Azim has confirmed that the aircraft will remain at the airport until its departure on September 16. According to Major Ibrahim Azim the aircraft were a part of a series of joint inspections between both countries conducted by the Maldivian Coast Guard, MNDF and India.
Locals from Hanimaadhoo has confirmed that 15 Indian nationals has arrived with the flight. Sources has noted that the following individuals would remain within the premises of the airport and would not enter the island area according to sources.
The government has come under fire for supporting the following increase in military presence of Indian solders from local’s. However the government remains to support the Indian Military training programs within the Maldives and presence. The government has also defended its claim by saying the government is working on Military programs and various other activities.
