FinCEN files: two banks in the Maldives received suspicious transfers

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has recently released a leaked FinCEN files which show two branches of international bank operation within the Maldives were used to transfer of suspicious payment.

The file shows that Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and the State Bank of India (SBI) branches in the Maldives received USD 501,359 was received from 18 different transactions.

According to the following transaction made to HSBC has been noted as 6 transactions with a total amount of USD 204,431 while 12 transactions involving SBI amounted to USD 296,928.

As mentioned the transfer was made between 2015 and 2017 according to report. Looking at the transfers the payments were made by the China Invest Corporation (CIC) through the VP Bank AG which is run in Lichtenstein.

The FinCEN files are leaked secret documents which reveals major banks which has allowed criminals money to move dirty money around the world.
